Day 62: Ben Cuts Ribbons, Continues False and Negative Campaign
LEXINGTON, KY - Two months ago, Ben Chandler received Sixth District Congressional candidate Andy Barr’s challenge to a series of debates.
“While candidates for US Senate have begun negotiating a debate schedule, Ben Chandler was apparently too busy cutting ribbons this weekend,” said John Connell, campaign manager for Andy Barr. “It has been two months since Andy Barr invited Chandler to participate in a district-wide discussion of the issues. Instead Chandler has hidden from a public dialogue, running television ads that the Herald-Leader has rated as ‘mostly false’ and the Advocate Messenger suggests is a ‘outright lie.’”
“When Ben Chandler holds large pairs of scissors, it’s for a photo-op to distract the public from his allegiance to Nancy Pelosi and Washington spending,” said Connell. “Andy Barr will take the scissors to the Washington red tape, bureaucracy, wasteful spending and taxes that are killing jobs in Kentucky. Even if Chandler isn’t interested in a public debate, Andy Barr will continue to cut through Chandler’s false campaign and talk about limiting the growth of government in order to create jobs in Kentucky.”

Andy Barr announced the “Where’s Ben?” Watch, counting the days since Barr's campaign sent Ben Chandler a letter asking for 16 live, in-person debates. Identical letters were sent on July 13, 2010 via certified mail to Chandler's congressional office and his campaign P.O. Box to ensure he received it. Chandler's office received the letter on July 14th.
