"Where's Ben?" Watch Continues

Day 50: Ben Hides behind False Advertising

LEXINGTON, KY - Fifty days ago, Ben Chandler received Sixth District Congressional candidate Andy Barr’s challenge to a series of debates.

Recently, Andy Barr announced the “Where’s Ben?” Watch, counting the days since Barr's campaign sent Ben Chandler a letter asking for 16 live, in-person debates. Identical letters were sent on July 13, 2010 via certified mail to Chandler's congressional office and his campaign P.O. Box to ensure he received it. Chandler's office received the letter on July 14th.

“Ben Chandler is afraid to discuss the tax-and-spend-and-spend record he has accumulated in Congress,” said John Connell, campaign manager for Andy Barr. “Instead he continues to spend money raised from out-of-state special interests on television ads that fabricate positions for Andy Barr; ads that the Advocate Messenger says are ‘falsely accusing,’ ‘spinning’ and ‘stretching’ and the Herald-Leader calls ‘negative’ and ‘mostly false.’”

“The voters of Central Kentucky are tired of Chandler’s typical Washington-style exaggerations and want to know who will end wasteful Washington bailouts, reduce the deficit, balance the budget, and fight job-killing tax proposals like Cap-and-Trade,” continued Connell. “It seems that Chandler would rather hide from the public and hide from his record by creating lies about his opponent.”
