Apr 15th, 2010
LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY – Continuing his successful fundraising efforts in the two previous quarters, Andy Barr announced today that his campaign raised a total of $411,659.75 through the end of March. This includes the first quarter fundraising total of $106,312.50 which was reported to the FEC today. Entering the final weeks before the May 18th primary, the campaign will report $350,367.06 in cash-on-hand.
“I am grateful for the continued support my campaign is receiving from volunteers and supporters in the Sixth District,” stated Barr. “This is the third consecutive quarter we have raised over $100,000 and we had over 100 supporters visit the grand opening of our campaign office this month. We have started an aggressive door-to-door campaign and the momentum is continuing to build as we get closer to the May 18th Primary Election Day.”
Barr
also noted that his contributions from individuals match those of the
incumbent for the cycle. In the six and one-half months between his
exploratory announcement in September 2009 and the end of March 2010,
Barr has raised $406,000 from individuals. In the fifteen months of
this political cycle from January 2009 through March 2010, Ben Chandler
has raised $410,000 from individuals, with the remainder of his
fundraising coming from Political Action Committees, largely based in
Washington DC.
Additionally, Andy Barr has outraised the incumbent this cycle from itemized individuals in Kentucky. Andy Barr has raised $315,810 from itemized individuals in Kentucky, while Chandler has raised $272,352.
“In
six months I have matched a six-year incumbent in financial support
from citizens committed to my election,” said Barr. “It clearly
demonstrates that the voters of Central Kentucky are ready for new
leadership.”
