Andy Barr Statement on House Passage of HB 2
Lexington, KY – Today, the Kentucky House of Representatives passed a politically-motivated gerrymandering plan that House Speaker Greg Stumbo testified was designed 'to give credence to the core' of Congressman Ben Chandler's recommendation.Andy Barr, who is challenging Chandler in a rematch of the third-closest congressional race in America in 2010, issued the following statement:
“While most Kentuckians are worried about finding or keeping their jobs, Ben Chandler is obviously more concerned about protecting his own job by promoting an incumbent-protection scheme that removes tens of thousands of central Kentucky voters from the Sixth Congressional District.
“At a time when our country is suffering through the 35th straight month of unemployment higher than 8 percent, Ben Chandler should be spending more time on jobs for the American people, and less time trying saving his.”
