Ben Chandler Refuses to Stand Up for Kentucky Jobs, Again

Chandler Puts Pelosi First, Jobs Second

Today, in a New York Times article, Congressman Ben Chandler wondered aloud to himself whether the EPA considered the impact on Kentucky’s coal industry as it considered new environmental regulations:

“[T]here are many of us who live in some of these areas who think that this is a problem that has to be addressed, the whole climate change problem ... But when the EPA goes about its business of regulating emissions, is there any thought being put into what happens to certain jurisdictions that burn coal, for instance?"

“It is remarkable to me and to workers throughout Kentucky that Ben Chandler even has to ask that question,” said congressional candidate Andy Barr. “It is plain that the ‘Cap and Trade’ energy tax he voted to pass and the EPA’s regulatory efforts directly target Kentucky jobs. Where was Chandler’s concern for Kentucky jobs when he voted for new regulations last June?

“It seems Chandler is more of a ‘Vote with Pelosi First, Ask Questions Later’ kind of Congressman,” Barr continued. “I guess we all knew that when he voted for the stimulus without reading it.”
