Nonpartisan expert signals race is competitive

LEXINGTON, KY - Today, the nonpartisan Rothenberg Political Report has moved its rating of the Sixth District Congressional race from "Safe Democrat" to "Leans Democrat". Rothenberg skipped over the "Democrat Favored" category in between. This is the second time in less than one month that a respected political publication has acknowledged the increasing competitiveness of the KY-06 race.

Barr said this is just another sign that Central Kentuckians are ready for new representation in Washington. "Sixth District residents believe Washington politicians are spending too much money and ignoring our country's most pressing issues. My campaign is focused on creating jobs through the private sector to get our economy back on track. Voters appreciate that I will stand with them against a Cap & Trade energy tax and will work to repeal ObamaCare."

This rating change is the most recent demonstration of the momentum of the campaign. In late May, a survey conducted for the Barr campaign showed him trailing Congressman Chandler by only 7 points. In that poll only 30% of voters agreed that Chandler deserves re-election. In June, CQ/Roll Call also moved the Sixth District race from "Likely Democrat" to "Leans Democrat". This month, the campaign announced that Barr has outraised Chandler by over $200,000 in the last FEC fundraising period.
