Says Top Priority will be to Stop Washington Spending Spree, Avert a Debt Crisis

LEXINGTON, KY - Garland “Andy” Barr, the Republican candidate who last year came within 648 votes of representing Kentucky's Sixth Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, today announced that he will seek the same seat in 2012.

In announcing his candidacy, Barr said that his top priority will be to stop Washington’s reckless spending spree and work to avert a national debt crisis.

“This year, my wife, Carol, and I were blessed with the birth of our first child, Eleanor. When I hold her in my arms I understand, now, more than ever, the call to leave this nation better than the one we received,” said Andy Barr. “We can’t sit idly by as career politicians destroy the dream of our forefathers. That is why I’m running for Congress: to secure a more prosperous future for the American people – a future that forces government to live within its means and allows individuals the freedom to succeed.”

“Last year, we were grateful to have received the support of over 119,000 central Kentucky voters,” said Mr. Barr. “I am humbled by the encouragement from supporters to make another effort.”
